The MadHouse Guide to the 2019 Music Festival Season

If we were to list every festival happening in Europe this summer, we’d probably still be typing by the time September rolls around. So instead, here are some highlights in the Czech Republic and surrounding areas.


Czech Republic

Festival: Metronome Festival:

Where: Prague (Výstaviště Exhibition Grounds), Czech Republic

When: 21-22 June, 2019

Headliners: Liam Gallagher, Kraftwerk 3-D

Cost: 2-day ticket from 95 euro

Why go: You want an excuse to come (or come back!) to The MadHouse! Or, maybe Oasis played a big part of your life.


Festival: Rock For People

Where: Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic

When: 4 – 6 July, 2019

Headliners: Franz Ferdinand, Flogging Molly, Manic Street Preachers

Cost: 3-day ticket from 85 euro

Why go: It’s the #1 rock festival in the Czech Republic


Festival: Mighty Sounds

Where: Tabor, Czech Republic

When: 12 – 14 July, 2019

Headliners: Dubioza Kolektive, Turbonegro, While She Sleeps

Cost: 3-day ticket 70 euro

Why go: You’re into rock/punk/ska/reggae/related genres with a super fun atmosphere


Festival: Colours of Ostrava

Where: Ostrava, Czech Republic

When: 17 – 20 July, 2019

Headliners: The Cure, Florence & The Machine, Zaz

Cost: 4-day ticket from 89 euro

Why go: You like indie festivals….with a solid line up and for a great price!


Festival: Let It Roll 

Where: Milovice Airfield, Czech Republic

When: 1 – 4 August, 2019

Headliners: Chase & Status, Andy C, Camo & Krooked

Cost: 3-day ticket from 80 euro.

Why go: You wanna party til you get jelly legs. It’s the biggest Drum & Bass festival in the world, and essentially a who’s who of the d&b scene.



Festival: Pohoda Festival

Where: Trencin, Slovakia

When: 11 – 13 July, 2019

Headliners: Liam Gallagher, Lykke Li, The 1975

Cost: 3-day ticket from 99 euro

Why go: Cool & varied international line-up


Festival: Grape Festival

Where: Piešťany, Slovakia

When: 9 – 10 August, 2019

Headliners: Chvrches, The Kooks, Rudimental

Cost: 2-day ticket 69 euro

Why go: You can’t beat 2 days for 69 euros!!



Festival: Sziget Festival

Where: Budapest, Hungary

When: 7 – 13 August, 2019

Headliners: Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Florence & The Machine

Cost: 7-day passes from 329 euro

Why go: Aside from consistently winning awards for being one of the best European festivals, you really just need to experience the Island of Freedom for yourself.



Festival: Melt Festival

Where: Ferropolis, Germany

When: 19 – 21 July, 2019

Headliners: Bon Iver, A$AP Rocky, Modeselektor

Cost: 3-day ticket from 119 euro

Why go: Great space, electronic-heavy line up & vibes
